2011 Infiniti QX

Look at the first spy shots of the all-new 2011 Infiniti QX. If you saw the pictures of the new Nissan Patrol, also known as the Safari, you’ll discover that the unique front and rear-end designs along with the slightly different wheel arches, the two vehicles are practically one and the same. Based on the Nissan Titan, the current QX56 drives more like a pickup truck than the latest generation of good-handling SUVs. Expect this new model to ditch the 5.6-liter 315 HP V8 in favor of the new 5.0-liter, 390 HP unit from the Infiniti FX50 and be built atop the 7th generation Japanese Domestic Market Nissan Safari platform. Rather than aping other manufacturers that have beat it to bringing the squared-off styling archetype to market, the styling is actually an adaptation of the Nissan Terranaut concept.

Infiniti hybrid coming in 2010
Nissan Motor, Infiniti brand’s owner, will offer a gas-electric hybrid next year as competition intensifies in the green technology.
Automaker is generally tightlipped about specific product plans, but Nissan already has shown prototypes of their hybrid models.
Nissan has fallen behind Japanese rivals Toyota and Honda in developing its own hybrids but has made no secret of its ambitions to play aggressive catchup.
Nissan is developing a different kind of battery for hybrids from those used by Toyota and Honda. Nissan officials say their battery is better at providing quicker and more power.
Nissan officials have said the nation’s third-biggest automaker is working on a bigger hybrid system than Toyota’s popular Prius, the global top-seller among hybrids, and will make hybrid sports cars and luxury models.
Among luxury cars, Toyota already offers various Lexus hybrids, while German automakers Daimler AG and BMW AG are planning hybrids.
Hybrids deliver better mileage and reduce global warming gas emissions, compared with ordinary cars, because hybrids switch between a gasoline engine and an electric motor to deliver gas-sipping efficiency.
Infiniti Pull Out of Next Auto Shows
Infiniti have canceled plans to participate at the Detroit auto show in North America. Infiniti has also withdrawn from the forthcoming Chicago Auto Show in February, citing in both cases “depressed economic conditions”.
Up until now, the total number of high-profile brands that have dropped plans to exhibit at the Cobo Hall are six (seven if you take Infiniti into account) and include Ferrari, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce and Suzuki. Bad news for the organizers of the auto shows.
Video: Infiniti G37 Convertible
Check the video of the new Infiniti’s 2009 G37 Convertible. The G37 Convertible was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto show. Now you have a chance to see the 2009 G37 Convertible and its retractable hardtop in action. But as with the case of the 370Z promo film, Infiniti has once again forgotten to add sound to the video.
Infiniti G37 cabrio

Nissan has unveiled the first photos of its luxury Infiniti G37 cabrio.
The cabrio will be more refined than the hard-top model with the option of a unique interior treatment, plus audio and air conditioning systems have been tuned to operate perfectly with the top up or down.
The Infiniti G37 will be fully deserving of the G badge, with power coming from the same 3.7-litre V6 unit that is set to go in the forthcoming 370Z and is in the current G37 Coupe.
The G37 has opted for a folding three-piece hard-top cover as well instead of the more traditional canvas roof and it will automatically retract at the touch of a button. This means expect similar looks and performance to the Coupe with the roof up.
