As part of the celebrations for Sebastian Vettel’s 2011 championship, Infiniti is offering European buyers of the FX the chance to get a unique insight of the inner workings of the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team.

The FX World Champion Experience will be offered only to select customers in Europe (there will only be 10 invitations for the UK) who order an FX. This applies not just to the top of the line FX50S Premium, but any model in the crossover range.

These select Infiniti FX buyers will be invited to Red Bull Racing Milton Keynes headquarters early next year where a member of the team will take them on a behind-the-scenes tour. January is probably the best time to witness first-hand a Formula 1 team, because everyone will be working at full speed in preparation for the 2012 Season.

Infiniti has unveiled its 2011 FX in Europe. The Infiniti SUV gains new convenience and safety features along with new color and trim combinations, while keeping the same engine range, which includes two petrol units and a diesel option.
The most important addition is that of the Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) system, which backs up its audible and visual warnings of an unintended lane departure with a dynamic intervention. The LDP now comes standard on the FX37 GT Premium and S Premium, and FX50 S Premium, as well as Premium versions of the FX30d.

Infiniti has also added a new power tailgate to the standard equipment of all FX models. It’s worth noting that the height the tailgate opens to is programmable to help avoid problems when operating the door in restricted spaces, while it can also raised or lowered from a switch on the dashboard, from buttons both inside and outside the tailgate, or remotely from the I-Key.

In Europe, the FX is offered with three engines including a 238HP V6 diesel, 320HP V6 petrol and 390HP V8 petrol of the range’s flagship model, the FX50 S Premium, which can accelerate from 0-62mph (100km/h) in 5.8 seconds.

Infiniti has unveiled the first official photos of its special version of its luxury crossover named the FX Limited Edition. Production will be limited to just 100 cars for Western Europe.

Based on either the V6-powered FX37S or the V8-powered FX50S, the Infiniti FX Limited Edition is offered in a Black Obsidian ‘Scratch Guard’ finish as standard and in a Moonlight White pearl metallic as an option.

Unique features on the outside include dark smoked headlight surrounds, specially commissioned 21-inch ‘Turbine’ design alloy wheels finished in dark Graphite, while the same finish is applied on the radiator grille, side air vents and roof rails.

The FX Limited Editions feature illuminated ‘Infiniti’ entry guards, carbon fiber trim that replaces the standard maple wood veneer, Graphite leather upholstered seats, upper door panels and dashboard with contrasting stitching and Alcantara headlining.

Both engine variants are offered with a Connectiviti+ technology package that includes a fully integrated navigation, communication and entertainment system comprising an 11-speaker Bose Premium Sound System, the Michelin Guide, full iPod connectivity and a 10GB music box with Gracenotes database.

In the UK, pricing for the Infiniti FX Limited Edition starts at £55,855 for the 320HP V6 engined FX37S and rising to £62,035 for the 390HP, V8 powered FX50S.

The Infiniti announced that the entry-level 2009 FX in the North American market will be the FX35 that’s powered by a 303 Hp 3.5-liter V6 unit.

The FX37 will be available with a new 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and AWD as standard and with two major option packs: Sport and Multimedia. The Sport pack includes among other things, active Continuous Damping Control system with electronically controlled shock absorbers while the multimedia pack is based around a top-end Bose 11 speaker audio system and the latest satellite navigation system with voice recognition.

The FX37 will go on sale across Europe together with the G37 Saloon, G37 Coupe, EX37 and FX50 starting from October 2008
